Chapter Chat - There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom

This term we have been part of Chapter Chat, a twitter based book chat. We have read a book called ‘There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom’ which is about a boy called Bradley who no one likes. He sat in the last seat, last row at the back of the class with no mates. Until a boy called Jeff moved to the school and sat next to Bradley. After a few weeks a counsellor came, her name was Carla and she helped Bradley make friends and do his homework.

Every Friday we went on Twitter with other schools in New Zealand that are also part of Chapter Chat. When we are on Twitter we answered questions in small groups about what we had read in the last week. Each week we also had to complete at least one quality Chapter Chat activity to share on Twitter.

This is one of my activities where I drew a picture of Colleen in her birthday dress. It took me at least 35 minutes to finish it.

This is my second activity where I had do research about elephants. It took a while I had to work for q couple of hours on this. I found some cool facts about elephants!

This is my third activity where I needed to make an invitation to Colleen's birthday party I had to work hard to make it look how it looks now. My favourite part of the invitation would be the background with the zebra and pink stripes.

Here is my fourth activity where I had to make a stop bulling poster. On it is a boy that has kicked a girl and has said "Cry me a river build a bridge and get over it " and so in other words he was bullying the poor girl.

My favourite activity would be my drawing of Colleen in her birthday dress. Because I love to draw, do art and I love to design dresses so it was perfect for me.

What one was your favourite?

THANKS ALYSSA!

Haiku Poem

In Jackson's Studio, as part of our poetry unit for writing we have been learning how to write a haiku poem. A haiku poem is a popular Japanese poem that traditionally has three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables.

We took our notebooks into the playground and brainstormed words associated with an object. I chose yellow monkey bars because a lot of things happen to the bars and they have many things to explain about it.

Next we came inside and composed our haiku poem using a website.

Here is mine, I hope you enjoy it.
